A low cloud overhung Mammoth Mountain when we arrived Friday morning. Chairs 3, 5 & 9 were covered
and the visibilty was all white. So we head to Chair 2. Just as lunch at McCoy's was finished the clouds all blew
away and the upper gondola was ready for a ride to the top. Windy and sunny is the way Friday finished and
With Whiskey Creek packed, we split into groups for Giovanis' and Gomez's for dinner. Barbara Mc., Kip,
Gloria, Harry, Juliet, Harry, Julie, Bruce and Fran went for Italian, while Chris, Aili, Art and Leo went for
Mexican. Then a quick trip to the market for the rest of the food and back to the condo for ice cream & cookies.
Saturday was warm and sunny with blue skies and increasing wind as the storm blows toward us. Saturday was
also early ups for MVP season ticket holders, so we were all on the mountain at 7:30 am for the early morning
hard packed snow. A surprise is that the upper gondola was also running along with 1, 2, 3, 6, 15 & 16. So rather
than an early breakfast I head for the top. The data device just inside the window opposite where the gondola
unloads at the top shows 21degrees and 56 mph wind. Perfect for a groomed corduroy run down Cornice Bowl..
4 runs later I head in for breakfast. Ty, McCoy's food manager has done a great job, with eggs, sausage, bacon,
potatoes, yogurt, juice, fruit and pastries. Really nice breakfast. Nothing Continental about it.
Rita, Aili, Mary Jo and Bruce have fun all over the top of Mammoth. It is hard to lead the sisters because they
keep passing you. A late lunch and then 8 of us meet up and ski all over High 5 Express. Great day that lasted to
4:00 pm. Now we are ready for one of Kip's delicious dinners. Chopped vegetable and barley soup instead of
appetizers, quinoa salad and then fillet of salmon with spinach and little round potatoes. Followed by more ice
cream and cookies. Far better than catered. Thanks also to those who helped Kip cook the meal.
This is what happens when Mammoth employees
forget to put out the ski racks at McCoy's.

together on Sunday at McCoy's.
Five retired Kronies stayed and skied on Monday and Tuesday and enjoyed the best snow of the week. 12" of
new powder and blue skies. The rest of us drove home on Sunday through intermitent showers all the way to LA,
with a light dusting of snow on the mountains above Palmdale.
